Unique & Romantic Places To Stay

There are a lot of different and unique places in Africa. Here we have chosen three of our favourite places, all of which have that extra something to make your romantic stay truly special.

Jack’s Camp, Botswana

Maybe this place looks like something out of an Indiana Jones film. Persian carpets, Moroccan style tents and traditional colonial era safari touches make for an incredible sight. Located in the eerily beautiful Makgadikgadi Pans, where the horizon is endless, there is a surprisingly wide range of things to do during a stay here – however visiting Chapman’s Baobab has to be top of the list, it’s one of the oldest and biggest trees in Africa. Request sundowners out on the pans for a sunset like you’ve never seen before.

Unique & Romantic Places To Stay

Tongabezi, Zambia

Tongabezi  is situated practically on top of the Victoria Falls, and was practically designed for romance. Each room overlooks the river, and this view can be admired from the comfort of your outdoor bath! Take advantage of the private dining option – a dining platform moored in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River, for ultimate privacy. The staff will really go out of their way for special occasions, and will take such good care of you it will be extremely difficult to leave.

Kingston Treehouse, Lion Sands Private Game Reserve

Equipped with full bathroom and shower facilities, and constructed out of glass and wood – this is one of the most striking treehouses you will ever see. Armed with a delicious picnic basket of tapas, drinks and lanterns to provide mood lighting, you will enjoy your dinner overlooking the treetops and spend the rest of the night stargazing. There is an additional cost to staying in the treehouse, the main part of your stay will be at the beautiful Ivory Lodge, but if you ask us it’s worth every penny.

Nkwichi Lodge, Lake Malawi

This remote property is the perfect hideaway for weary travellers, set right on the shores of Lake Malawi. With only six luxury chalets and two private houses, chances are you won’t see the other guests unless you really try to. Rooms are hidden amongst the trees providing ultimate privacy, and they all come with their own private cove, verandah and outdoor bath (in some instances carved out of the rock). Take a trip on a dhow for sundowners before lazily making your way to dinner overlooking the lake of stars.
